How to participate in the digital race

It’s on! On Sunday, the 27th hella hamburg halfmarathon will start in many places and we are looking forward to have you on board! From the city of Hamburg across the rest of Germany and all over the world – over 2,500 runners will lace up their running shoes to celebrate digitally their favorite passion. Run wherever you like, gather with others, and become part of a community that shares the same love for running as you do.

The digital start is going to happen on Sunday at 02:00 am (00:00 UTC) – closing time will be at 11.59 pm (21:59 UTC). Only during this period, the service for submitting your result will be activated. Everything else will be explained below.

Timing made easy – use the official app!

Besides your sportsmanship, the official app will be your most important companion on race day. Download the Die Laufgesellschaft app on your smartphone and leave the timing and submission of your result to the app (Google Play Store | Apple App Store). Additionally, you can share photos of your race to the community by using the app. Please use your personal event key we sent you via e-mail on Wednesday, 23 June 2021.

Please note, that the app is only available in German app stores. For participants from foreign countries, please use the manual submission (read Submitting your result manually).

Before using the app, make sure that your smartphone’s power saving options are disabled in order to have the tracking work properly.

Submitting your result manually

If you prefer to stop your time with another running app or watch, you can do that as well. In this case, use the manual result upload to enter your time manually. Please note that a proof of your result is required. A screenshot of your tracking app or a photo of your running watch will be totally fine.

For submitting your result manually please use the link sent to you on Wednesday, 23 June 2021.

Where should I run?

By having a digital race, you enjoy complete freedom to let your personal hella hamburg halfmarathon take place wherever you want. Whether it is be beautiful, challenging, or flat and fast is entirely up to you. Just make sure it holds at least 21.0975 kilometers of distance. If you have the opportunity to come to Hamburg, we have an idea for a good spot: We have been told, that the Elbe island of Kaltehofe and the surrounding area is a great place to run a halfmarathon.
