The hella hamburg half marathon is a summer race and this requires special precautions. An extensive water station system is used to ensure that all participants are optimally supplied even in high temperatures.
You will encounter a total of seven supply stations along the course. These are evenly distributed at kilometres 3.3 – 6.9 – 9.0 – 12.1 – 14.8 – 17.5 and 19.8 (see race course). Please also make use of the pre-start supply points on the Glacischaussee (pre-start area) and on the Reeperbahn (start area). Non-carbonated water will be available at all supply stations and isotonic refreshment drinks at the last three.

Please note that there no need for stepping in line at the supply stations. Lining up at the beginning of the refreshment point causes unnecessary queues. Avoid long queues by looking for a free in the front of the tables.
To prevent bodies from overheating in the event of high temperatures, all supply stations also have garden showers and water containers. These are located either in front of or behind the water point and are used exclusively for wetting your head and body (attention no drinking water!) Please make plenty of use of them and relieve the water points by not using drinks to moisten your head nor body.
Garden showers and water containers provide cooling
Additional cooling possibilities are located in the pre-start and finish areas. In warm temperatures, it is advisable to bring a hat and keep it moist at all times.
A wide range of refreshments, non-alcoholic beer as well as bananas and local pastries for refreshment await you at the finish.
Together we pull through!
