In 2026, you can once again look forward to an officially measured 21.0975-kilometre sightseeing spectacular. We have once again packed around 50 landmarks and points of interest into one half marathon distance.
Starting in the heart of St. Pauli, the course takes you through Hamburg’s famous entertainment district, the Reeperbahn, past the Landungsbrücken piers and along the Elbe promenade with the Elbphilharmonie as a stunning backdrop. From there, the route continues through the city centre, across Kennedy Bridge with its beautiful waterfront views, and alongside the Alster Lake with breathtaking scenery. This course is packed with visual highlights from start to finish.
Experienced runners will notice a change when looking at the course map: the turnaround point at the Outer Alster and the detour via Mittelweg have been removed. Instead, for the first time since 2001, the route returns to Alsterufer, passing the former U.S. Consulate and bringing back a piece of Hamburg running history.
Take a look at the updated course map and discover even more of Hamburg’s attractions along the route.
Due to delays in the ongoing road renovation works, a short-notice adjustment to the course has become necessary. Contrary to the original plan, the section along Elbchaussee and Klopstockstraße will not be completed in time for race day.
As a result, the course will follow an alternative loop* from Altona Town Hall before rejoining the regular route at Palmaille. The new section is approximately 3.4 kilometres long.
To compensate for this change, the turnaround point on the second half of the course will return. It will be located just beyond Krugkoppel Bridge at kilometre 17.5.
* Alternative routing via Platz der Republik / Max-Brauer-Allee → Lobuschstraße / Arnoldstraße → Keplerstraße / Bleickenallee → Hohenzollernring → Bernadottestraße / Holländische Reihe → Max-Brauer-Allee
